Head football coach is incredibly time consuming. Not likely a parent would do that.

I would imagine a parent or lower level coach steps up as an interim head coach for the year so they can play.
For all the Overton supports out there that say he’s great for kids it’s telling that the last two programs he was in charge of were in complete implosion mode once he left. To me it appears he is only great for the kids in brings with him. Everyone else gets mowed over and left behind with nothing.

All the assistant coaches were Overton people who left with him, right?

The same Dan Drickey who got fired from coaching Valor soccer? Valor is *terrible* with *terrible* coaches so if they fire someone, there has to be a real bad reason.

Hayfield has two problems. The principal is has no business being a principal, he only cares about his consulting business. He shows up to work and locks himself in his office, and just yells at the APs. He has every assistant principal at Hayfield walking on egg shells. He has created toxic environment, and throws the black card around whenever he is backed into a corner.
The other problem is the DSA. A DSA in FCPS has a lot of responsibilities, and this guy kissed the principals ass until he became the DSA. He went from PE teacher to athletic director. Fcps needs to look into some of his past social media posts, they are very concerning. Also, he is part of the crew that knew they were illegally recruiting along with the former DSA and principal. How is the community supposed to heal when the people involved are still making decisions at the school?

My son and others in his class who have left the football program are now going into their senior year, and none are planning on playing football. Regardless, we still live in the community and want to see the school succeed in all avenues.

By the way they have handled the new coach hiring, Fcps needs to part ways with Darin Thompson and Dan Drickey. Once they are removed, the school can finally move on.

Transfers are all gone. Most went to the St. James, but others went back to their original school or another private school.

Ignore the whole thing ever happened instead of finding a sacrificial lamb for the job. They will be crushed every game after losing or not developing all the real hayfield kids, and they aren't allowed to play in the tournament. Overton's clown car of grifters left the real Hayfield students stuck with their sh!y.

When schools decide not to hire criminals it makes it hard

The football season starts in two weeks and we still haven’t named a new football coach. My child had to live through last years nightmare where he sat behind a bunch of recruits and now after those kids have all left our inept administration can’t hire a coach that can pass a background check. We need a new principal tomorrow.
