Yes I have seen adult sons or daughters doing 1:1 travels with their semi-elderly mother or father to the homeland, sports stuff, visiting others, some bucket list thing.
Often times it’s due to the other semi-elderly parent not wanting to travel, health issues, can’t drive well anymore so they can’t get places they used to without a travel companion or driver car or help.

Only thing I’d watch out for in this Sandwich Generation is that you help out your spouse plan the week you’re gone, manage the house, kids, and day to day while you are gone on your vacation with your parent.

And consider doing it Work from home and getting your job stuff done too. Plus that doesn’t burn what little vacation days we have each year.

Final alternative is there are many active friend and travel groups of people in their 60s-80s. Small cruises, tour groups, biking, hiking, eating in europe or Bali. Perhaps having your parent build some good friend groups so they can travel more with them a few times a year works well for the itch too.

FWIW, I’m a mom with three young children and my dealings with my dad the last 15 years have all been very normal. They live near us so we see my parents quite often but it’s all very normal family fun oriented. Recently my dad wanted to take a trip my mom wasn’t interested in as it was sports oriented which I love so he invited me to go with him and my husband said do it which surprised me. We had so much fun as we were together 24/7 for a week. It was so much fun because we talked about everything and I learned so much about him that I didn’t know. We definitely traveled in style which I’m not used to so it was really special. My dad is 72 and if you have a dad that age and you have a good relationship try to find the time to do something together. I really felt like a little girl again yet also like a special daughter.
