Not really, but they definitely were not emotionally involved to the point of getting upset when things aren't working out at first.

No because it was done in person waiting in line after parents dropped us off

How old ARE you? Ours was done on the computer, no parent input at all though.

At Amherst, freshmen don't register until they arrive on campus. Strange system, guess we'll see how it goes!

My daughter didn’t let me see much into her recent registration process, but from what I’ve pieced together, Davidson made it easy and fair. She entered her preferences into a flow chart kind of list, and the next day got all of the courses she wanted.

A friend of mine has had kids at Emory, Washington and Lee, and Washington University, and she said that the latter was the easiest and where her kid had the most luck with classes.

DD goes to 5Cs and it’s pretty easy process according to students. DS goes to Yale and it was similarly easy.

Some schools have it worse than others. It's gone smoothly for my son at GW, over the past two years - they really try to make it a non-stressful experience. He just registered for courses abroad for an exchange program, and the sister institution's class registration was a heck of a lot more stressful. He was on it right when the portal opened (4am eastern time!), and couldn't get everything he wanted.

It’s all about expectations. If you never went to college, maybe you aren’t aware that registering for class is always a bit like putting together a puzzle.

My kids are UVA and NC State had a pretty easy time with registration. They both had to take early classes and had a few less than desirable professors, but they had no problems getting the classes that they needed/wanted. Rising sophomore and junior now.

What schools make this easy? I am appalled at the process at my kid’s school where you can’t even get on a waiting list for a required class. Small school so rather not name here
