One of mine had them out at 14 but all his teeth came in super early. He had a very quick recovery.

Most of my friends and myself had them out in high school in the 90s. DS17 just had his out this month. I didn’t know anyone who had them out post high school.

. My kid was under anesthesia for what seemed like just 20 minutes total for his wisdom teeth.

Ours had them out summer between senior year of HS and college

Both my kids had theirs removed in high school (either junior or senior year). If you wait until college, schedule early.

This. Mine is 17. Oral surgeon just told us the nerve is a concern. If we do it now, the procedure will be easier and the risk of complications is lower. I can clearly see on the X-rays that the wisdom teeth are angled and threatening his molars too.

It's easier to recover. My kid had impacted wisdom teeth too-all four. I was shocked at how easy the recovery was as compared to all the horror stories I heard from people who had it done in late high school and college.

We are waiting to see if they erupt. Mine never did. I think some of these extractions are unnecessary.

I had to have mine out on middle school because they were crowding and destroying my back molars.

No problems with anesthesia

Mostly it's old people who have to worry about the effects of anesthesia, not young healthy brains

I remember this happening for peers in college but not before. Hearing more and more extracting in MS and beginning of HS. Why? Is it moving up of braces to younger years? Is anesthesia more/less risky in MS v college age?
