Is there a better place to stay as a base? I'm open to any recommendations (except for Brussels -- we're already planning to stay there for 2 days at the end of our trip.) Thank you!

We moved to each of these cities, 1 night in Lux City, 3 nights in Bruges (first night after traveling from Luxembourg City); one night Ghent and two nights Antwerp (and then back to Amsterdam.)

OP here. We might switch to a 3 night, 2 night, 2 night plan. Which were your 3 favorite places to stay? I'm currently leaning toward Bruges, Antwerp, and Ghent. But maybe we should just rent a car so we have more flexibility/options.

Yes, lol. Spent 2 years in Belgium and anything more than a day or so for Bruges is overkill.

Disgustingly, the op is showing her unearned cis, white-mobility privilege.

We liked this place. Walking distance to everything in Old Town.

+100 for Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce. It was so lovely, great service, well located to walk everywhere in Bruges. We stayed there 4 nights. Walked to Damme one day, took tram or bus to coast another day.

Last summer in Bruges we stayed at the Hotel Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce. It’s in a great location overlooking a canal. The rooms are charming but pretty small but we really enjoyed our stay. Make sure you see the movie In Bruge before you go.

It is a small beautiful city well worth a two night stay.

Anywhere in the city center is fine. It'll get boring after day 2 though.

I did a day trip to Bruges and that was enough.

Yeah I was about to say that. 4 nights in Bruges is a lot.

That’s a lot of time to stay in Bruges.

I didn’t stay in Bruges, so unfortunately have no helpful recommendations for lodging, but just wanted to say I did it as a train trip from Brussels for a day and absolutely loved it. Such a charming city to walk around. Have fun!

My husband and I are taking a trip to Belgium next spring break. Any recommendations for a place to stay in Bruges? We'll likely be there 4 or 5 nights and prefer cheaper/simpler/fun places to luxurious/opulent/fancy (but no hostels - we want our own bathroom). We will not have a car so would like a place within walking distance of a fun area and public transportation.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
