If you are looking at a high end second home then Atlanta could work. They shoot a lot of films there and the cast will sometimes rent a house. Or you could have a home that would work for multiple members of production.

I love Stowe. We were considering buying there but ultimately decided that we missed the window to buy pre-Covid. The prices are pretty crazy right now, and to invest there at a time when climate change is making ski season in the east a bigger gamble than usual seems unwise.

Yeah…but similar to Aspen in that it’s crazy pricey. There is a 1200 sq ft 3 BR house for $4.3MM…and that’s the cheapest for sale.

Why not? Smaller (200,000 person) city. State parks. Not far from Savannah.

I'm not sure that's true. Lots of people want to rent a house up in VT in the mid to late Fall. Probably true that people don't want to rent up there much in the Spring.

Buy near Augusta National Golf Course. Rent it for 2 weeks a year to really rich people and make 100k.

If you truly need to have it rented year-round I do not think that Stowe is a super safe bet. Few people are coming to Vermont in April/May and late-Oct/November/December.

And if you want to be there when VT is at its most pleasant it's even harder.

Wondering if Stowe, VT (the town vs. on the mountain) or something similar is a good place for year-round rentals. On another thread, somebody mentioned Taos...but was again unclear if they meant Taos Ski Valley vs. Taos the town.

Trying to find a place where we would occupy for a decent amount of the year (3+ months), but is in a true town vs. a ski resort like Vale and can rent decently all-year round.

Looking for vacation-type spots vs. a large city or renting to college students.
