Allow your adult child that. He will share what he wants with his parents if and when he chooses.

Nothing wrong with his approach. Respect it.

So he lived in the dorm for one year and then, chose to commute. Why? Do you talk to him about joining clubs, especially ones that involve his major? What does he do with his free time? Does he have a job this summer?

If he is close to a sibling, cousin or uncle, request them to talk to him and help him navigate it and recommend dating.

Be less judgmental so he feels free to share his feelings with you or recommend seeing a therapist to help him navigate any struggles.
