I struggle more with them pushing bedtime.

No actually I don't mind it at all because I feel like it's the only time I can put them in front of a screen guilt free. I get a breather because I force them to stay still and watch tv.

Yes, it’s like kryptonite.

I feel sad but not sad enough to take care of my own child when they were sick at night. The paid help could deal with that. Beauty sleep is more important.

How old is your child? I got anxious a lot with my first especially fevers or stomach bugs because of the risk of dehydration. But it’s easier as they get older and you are more familiar with helping them get through it. I went to urgent care or early office hours at the pediatricians a lot.

Call your doctor and ask for anxiety meds.

Only sometimes. My kids are teens now. When a fever gets really high or an illness is a little more troubling than normal, I’ll get concerned. Otherwise, I take care of them and it’s fine.

I get stressed out about it too. Not necessarily the illness, although it’s of course hard to see your kid sick. But like most people we are running on very thin margins, and getting off my usual schedule due to illness - first the kids, then me/husband - seems to mess everything up for many days after.

Uh yes, I hate it when they’re sick. Plus then I dried about getting sick, missing work, etc.

Besides the newborn stage (super not a fan!), when the kids are sick is the absolute worst part of parenting for me. I truly hate it. Potty training, discipline, school issues, whining, lying, messes, friend drama, I can deal with all of it fine. But I HATE when the kids are sick. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

So yeah, I feel you OP. Best of luck!

No. You seem more emotionally enmeshed than is healthy. There's no reason to be anxious or on edge because a kid has a stomach bug. Keep him as hydrated as possible and away from other people.

I don't mean just the regular cold or flu, my son has a stomach bug and was up late last night with vomiting and diarrhea. I'm struggling hard today, going through piles of laundry while waiting for it to hit me, feeling anxious and on edge. I'm just not ok right now, and please be gentle. I realize there are much worse things out there for kids to catch, but it's so hard to see him sick and miserable.
