I’m a pre-k teacher at a private community preschool in Fairfax County. Some of our students have IEPs. Many times the county speech or other therapists come to our school to provide services.

Some of our students with IEPs also come to our community preschool in the morning and attend the public school’s autism pre-k in the afternoon.

My DD has IEP with FCPS for Pre-K, starting this coming school year. They have different placements so ours was placed with resource teacher who will visit our home for lessons.

In DCPS, PK students (like older students) can have IEPs that have them mostly in the gen ed classroom (in their IB school or wherever they lottery in) or IEPs that are most in a self contained classroom, in which case they will be bussed to the closest school that has an appropriate classroom.

+1 one of the other options is they provide services in the private daycare or preschool

MCPS PEP (preschool education program) has varying level of supports depending on your child's needs. There are discreet classrooms (6 kids, 1 teacher and 2 paras), mixed classrooms (6 kids with IEPs and 6 neurological peers, 1 teacher and 1 para) and other options. It depends on the IEP and district. For example, in DCPS your location of services (LOS) is the closest school that can implement the IEP, which depends on what is written in it. Preference will be given to your in-bounds (neighborhood) school, assuming they can implement the IEP.

In MCPS there is not prek in every elem school. My child was found eligible for PEP and he attended the closest location to his daycare.
