Financial troubles probably giving some families pause. Not a huge impact but enough to put off some families that were on the fence.

Are there any parents of current students or recent alum that can say what is driving this? Thanks

Vermont. 🙂

Thank you, did not know that about VT.

Application numbers vary from year to year. These changes are not drastic. They are blips on the radar screen.

DCUM posts have referred to a February intake. I think that's what is meant.

What did you think it meant, first PP?

Like Hamilton, Middlebury admits a cohort of students who start in the spring. They are referred to as Febs. Not reported in CDS data and likely accepted need aware as opposed to need blind.

Did Middlebury increase the ED % of the class recently? And correspondingly decrease the RD % of the class?

If so, that might explain the total application number going down and the overall acceptance rate going up.

Ugh, you test required zealots are so tiresome. Middlebury remains test optional and was for the 2029 application cycle. Moreover, just because NOVA mom wants the pendulum to swing back, it’s highly unlikely that there will be a wave of schools returning to test required. With schools facing the enrollment cliff, threats to funding, families questioning the cost or value of college, why would TO schools do something to deter applicants. This belief is just so counterintuitive it’s silly.

TO is not over at Middlebury. Application numbers drop when the schools are about to go or go test required.
