Asking because I’ve seen more and more women lately with hair almost to their waists, which is so hard to care for. There’s a point after which it doesn’t change how it frames your face… but is is still sexier than, say, 3 or 4 inches past the shoulders?

Hair to the waist is a turn off, though if matched with the whole hippie vibe that can be a certain goal

I've had long hair for almost all my life. My favourite length is waist length, but it's generally between BSL (bra strap) and waist length. I recently did a big chop (collarbone ish) in dec and while it's grown out a bit longer now, I recently asked my husband and he said he liked my longer hair better.
BUT I think that he's more used to me with quite long hair. I'm not sure if men who are not used to women with as long of hair feel the same preference.
FWIW I've never worn a wig, nor do any of my other long hair friends. I know they are becoming more common, but I definitely wouldn't say most women with long hair are wearing fake hair.
