I think it’s okay if they’re not wet. Especially the shorts which are not too tight. The problems are if they don’t change after swimming. If they just wear a dry swim bottom until swimming starts at 10am or whatever, that’s been fine for us. They change after to cotton undies for the rest of the day.

My kid is five so it’s a lot easier since she doesn’t care too much either way, but we have been all summer doing camp in swim shorts and swim t shirts. The best shorts we have are from UV skinz on Amazon but they’re all fine. They’re like little bike shorts made of swimsuit.

Easier on and off than a one piece and good for bus, swimming and slip and slide.

My DD wears a similar long sleeve swimsuit, and likes to wear a (cheap) sleeveless coverup over it. She won't wear shorts over her bathing suit bottom (maybe it feels bunched up with the ruffled bottoms?) DD wears the coverup during camp activities and doesn't change until after pool time. I have seen a range of outfits from the kids, I think what you are describing is fine.


Maybe consider buying her something without ruffled bottoms for comfort.


Idk why I would do that when she likes both her bathing suit and her coverup. I don't borrow problems with my kids!

She has a lot of strap dress, but would that look silly if she wear dress over the long sleeves rash guard top.

My girls (9 and 12) took their swimsuits and changed into them at camp. They stood in line for the changing room and changed together. It took longer than changing out in the open, but it's what they wanted to do.

If she's comfortable and can participate in all non swim activities, she's fine.

My DD wears shorts and a rash guard. So yes wears them at drop off so just changes once.

Did swimsuits that were tankini top and shorts so easy for bathroom during day when wear underneath
