A friend of mine was redoing their basement and did a glow paint party down there. It was awesome. Glow paint everywhere, they had glow sticks too. I wouldn’t mind the mess as long as it says in the invite. I’d send kid in old clothes I don’t care about.
You could decorate cupcakes or cookies . It’s not a very long activity but it would be fun for that age and give them something to take home.

Karaoke sounds perfect - plus bracelet making (my tween niece loves making stacks of bracelets with TSwift lyrics / songs to wear and trade with friends). Blacklight / glow sticks sounds super fun!

All of these ideas sound awesome and my kid would be excited to attend any of them.

Other ideas - maybe laser tag? I think there are companies that will come set it up in your backyard?

Service that provides manis/pedis? (That one may be expensive.)

Glow paint sounds fun! Maybe have a couple glow in the dark wigs for parents with sticks in their ass.

The only thing is that the foam machine is 100% an outdoor thing. It's basically water and bubbles. I'm okay making a mess everywhere, but can't flood my house. I wonder if a fog machine would be fun instead?

I would hire a glam team to come in and do nails/makeup.

Hang some black light posters and let them take one home. Maybe hand out black light flashlights and do a hidden scavenger hunt in the yard, let them take the flashlights home.

My turning-11-year-old requested a bake off party.

No painting themselves or hair changes without parent approval. I would not be happy about either.

Nothing involving ruining their clothes. So karaoke.

Dd loves at home birthday parties and I usually go big. I’ve had magicians, bounce houses, characters, and water slides. I play lots of games with the kids.

She’s turning 10 and I can’t think of anything. She seems to old for so much of that. Her birthday is early September and very hot outside, so that’s why we usually do a water theme. I feel like kids might be too old for a water slide and it seems boring since I’ve done that a few times.

Here’s a few ideas that I’d been thinking about. Anyone have input?
-glow party where they paint themselves with glow in the dark paint and I have black lights. Could be indoors or out. I have a large indoor space. Would it be weird to do this at night (for the glow) and not have the girls sleepover (the other parents are overprotective and not into sleepovers yet)? Like 6-9:30? Or 5-9?
-fairy hair (this was like $350 though and seemed pretty expensive for a side activity)
-karaoke. They are beyond obsessed with Taylor swift/sabrina carpenter
-I also have a foam machine

No one else seems to do home birthdays and dd absolutely doesn’t want a venue. I guess I always worry what the other parents think.
