I just think to myself, nothing I can do about it now. If it's time to go, it's time to go and like a previous poster, it makes me kind of reflect on life a little.

We all have to go at some point. I'd rather just get it over and done with. Like in a plane crash.

I’m not scared of turbulence, or flying in general. I would have no problem sleeping during turbulence.

Anxiety meds and noise cancellation headphones. Also eating bland food prior to flight.

Pilots know that turbulence is uncomfortable for passengers so they'll try to find smoother air when they can by changing altitudes. But sometimes its bumpy know matter what so they have no choice but to ride it out. Its uncomfortable but not dangerous as long as you keep your seat belt on.

Some people find anti-anxiety meds work, that's always an option. Also recommend checking out reddit subs r/fearofflying and r/askapilot

I don't like it, but try to think it's like going fast in a speedboat on a choppy day, which I've many times.

My only issue with turbulence is toilet trips.

Turbulence is pretty normal. I have never had severe turbulence while flying. If I get nervous, which is rare, I look to see the flight attendant’s reaction. They’re experienced flyers, if they aren’t phased and don’t look nervous, then I don’t worry about it.

My husband has this fear and now takes a Valium. It’s a huge help.

After decades of this, I read the SOAR book by Tom Bunn and actually did the exercises. It takes some time, not a quick fix. It truly works. It's been a few years and many transatlantic flights since then and flying still gets easier and easier each time. The "fixing" of the problem is before/not while you're flying so the flights become easy. It's been a game changer.

You just have to make your peace with death. We will all go sometime. I find that being zen about it is best.

Does anyone have a fear of flying when turbulence occurs ? What do you do?
I am usually tensed when it occurs no matter how much I have flown or read turbulence is fine.
I tried sleeping but the flight was 8 hours so obviously didn’t sleep more than 3 .. and the flight was turbulent the whole time over the atlantic .
