+1000. Lots of short girls play soccer. Just let her play.

Everything she's interested in. She's only 7.

If she can't keep up in soccer, she should move to a lower team or a lower club. She will still get to play that way. My son was short so I get it. Still played through high school, but not at a top team.

Look into dance, diving or gymnastics.

This x1000. Please let this not be a real post.

the funny/ironic thing is that soccer is actually perfect for smaller athletes overall (at least compared to basketball/volleyball/etc where you're eventually filtered out due to height/physical stature)

Of course at the very early ages the bigger more developed kids will always have an advantage. This would happen in every single sport at 7, so just keep sampling everything and encourage her to have fun/make friendships.

1. A seven year old should be trying anything she thinks interests her.

2. If she focuses on practicing skills for a sport she enjoys, she can reasonably expect to get just as good as or better than bigger players even if they're faster or have better reach.

3. +1 for volleyball

I have a first percentile shortie here.... soccer was a bust because she couldn't keep up; however she has been drawn to artistic individual sports which your DD is not interested in. You can try softball, cross country, cox swain, Also certain positions in volleyball don't matter. I think when she's older, soccer is not as much of an issue to be short. FWIW, my DS is also short and is making a go of basketball- He practices night and day and so is better than a lot of taller kids....

What sports do your petite daughters play? My DD is 7 and loves sports, and we're trying to find the right fit for her. She's tried soccer and loves it, but most of the girls have had growth spurts now and are more than a head taller than her. She's so much shorter at this point that she has trouble keeping up, and her pediatrician doesn't see a major growth spurt in her future. She's just going to be petite. I was always the shortest kid in my class too, but I wasn't interested in sports.

We're looking into softball. And when she's a little older, there's a field hockey team she could try.

She definitely likes team sports as opposed to more individual sports, like ice skating or gymnastics, which feels like it complicates things, since her size wouldn't matter as much in individual sports.
