I didn't discriminate. No MAGAs applied so far as I could tell. I did gather that one or two applicants were probably Republican, but no obvious evidence that they were MAGA. All things being equal, we would have rented to them.

We've cleared tenants with proof of assets and credit check.

I showed them my investment account balance. Since it was higher than the yearly salary required to rent the unit, they didn't even ask about my job.

You need proof of income or proof of assets. For 90% or so of people, that's a job, evidenced by a few paychecks. But there are other ways.

My father lives solely on social security with a small net worth and rents in a really nice apartment community. It can happen, just like retirees can get mortgages (my in-laws).

How are people that are not employed able to rent? I'm talking about otherwise financially "above average" folks - great credit, good amount of assets, etc. E.g. Divorced adults with a couple of mil. to their name, retired folks that are collecting SS yet but have enough assets to manage in the interim, etc.

Asking because, every place that we looked at for our rising sophomore in college seems to want a co-signor and expect the co-signor to be employed.
