OP here. I disagree. She can play next year at her current ECNL club at U17 and her U18 season will be a formality. Bigger issue we are dealing with now is the continuing changing landscape of college sports and how it impact her recruiting. Roster limits, settlement agreement, fully funded teams or not. It's a lot to work through. Younger kids (like U12 now) can adapt. The kids caught at the U14/U15 levels are going to have it rough for a bit as clubs jump leagues and players want to find what's best for them moving forward. Ugh. Glad we are approaching the end.

Yes, age is just another way to group the same set of players. For one specific kid any of these changes has potential to be a major disruption to them. But overall, the soccer landscape will not be very different. Same players, same coaches, grouped into different teams. All of the current problems with youth sports remain. Cost, politics, travel, player development, recruiting don't go away.

Yep. The coach part is the toughest, I don't think there's any consistency at the clubs around here, it's always changing. Not completely bad but just goes to show you that there aren't any real youth clubs around here when there's that much movement between staff and players always. Real clubs have consistency.

The coaches and clubs might say the same thing with players constantly switching teams.

It's not a shakeup it's a shuffling. The players and coaches in the DMV will not be changing. The only thing that changes is how they are grouped together to form teams.

My DD and I look for three key things in a club: quality coaching, consistent playing time, and meaningful exposure. You’d think that would be easy to find but with coaches constantly jumping clubs and teams switching leagues, it feels nearly impossible.

It definitely seems possible. If true, what clubs are left with MLSN for boys and ECNL for girls? I think it's only Bethesda.
