I’m a little concerned about girls being under represented at the Newton School.

We are attending K this coming year and brought up this exact question. Honestly, ratio was way better compared to most schools we toured that support neurodiverse students. These schools just tend to have an overrepresentation of boys. When we toured the split in K looked to be maybe 60/40 boys to girls, and I know Allison works hard to make sure there are decent ratios.

We also toured Linder. She was likely to be the only girl in the class and that would be incredibly hard for my DD. It's one of the reasons we chose Newton.

My son who was diagnosed ADHD hyper went to the Newton School for 8 years. He was challenged, learned skills to slow down and think. He got his confidence back while gaining a strong academic foundation. He’s received academic scholarships since and is looking forward to a competitive college future.

The school under Allison Abraham’s guidance and direction is simply amazing!

My son started at Newton last year for second grade and will be returning next year for third (and there this week for camp)! It is not an exaggeration to say that Newton has changed my son's life and our family's. DS is ND with challenges around hyperactivity, self-regulation and social skills. He was getting lost at public school, exhausted by getting through a day in a big, chaotic classroom, and relying on maladaptive social behavior to try to fit in with peers. Newton's program combines structure, movement, explicit social curriculum, hands-on learning, weekly field trips and integrated services (speech, OT, etc.). Our kiddo is himself again - engaging with curiosity at school, loving learning, energized, developing strong, healthy friendships and making huge gains in self-awareness and self-regulation. The staff is extremely competent, warm and engaging- we could tell from the first visit that they truly enjoy engaging with the kids. The school's founder is a legend and her relentless energy and creativity mean that the school's solid core curriculum is constantly enriched with new projects. After my son's first day at Newton he said, "I don't feel nervous anymore now that I'm at Newton" and he didn't want the school year to end. This was following a year of dragging himself into the neighborhood school each day and coming out exhausted, disregulated and with eroding self-esteem. I can't recommend Newton highly enough!
