I wasn’t trying to insinuate anything negative about the other interns. Heck, I don’t know anything about them!

DS is enjoying the internship and that makes me happy.

NP: presumably it is the son who says the other interns are nice but less prepared. How would a parent know that?

Why does that matter? It’s pretty obvious when people aren’t prepared, especially if the kids are doing machine learning. OP’s kid probably does math or cs, while other interns might do more biology.

Rising junior. CS major working for a small defense contractor. Goes into the office everyday and does some work at home at night and weekends. Not exactly what he wants to be doing, but seems to enjoy the company, fellow interns and supervisor. Gets a free lunch once a week!

Mechanical engineering major at a T20. Internship at a big energy company, even though oil and gas is not their focus. Only a sophomore, but likes flying out to sites and helping problem solve issues with wells and pipelines and so on. Finds office work boring. But generally pleased with the opportunity.

Programmer at a big tech company. Loving it. Lots of other interns, so they party a lot, but DC also gets stuff done. DC has sent me some pix of them out. They really are having so much fun.

Manager had good reviews and said DC hit the ground running, which they did. They said they were the only ones who had everything configured on their machine at the end of the first week and was already programming. The other interns were still struggling with tools.

DD is already more than halfway done with hers! Definitely took some adjusting but really likes it now.

For context, include the industry/line of work. Mine is a compliance intern at an investment bank.
