The couch had a lot of pandemic living on it so on the arms, let’s say they’re grimy from where my daughter clearly was wiping her hands. But it’s a dark gray and quite honestly it all just sort of blends in. Were moving it to a basement rec room and so are in the market for a new living room sofa so I’ll be looking at new options too. Might try something different or might stick with York. I will say that one thing I noticed being in the store is that whatever they are stocking York in now (feels linen-y) looked lumpy and wrinkly and just didn’t seem to hold the cushions very well. I would be concerned about buying that fabric. Having said that, at room and board you can, of course, choose any fabric. I will try to dig up the one that we have and post about it again.
Something I learned from dcum is that people don’t know how to clean their upholstery but please, clean your upholstery. You just need an extractor. Or a shop vac. Get it wet, use a cleaner (I just use very diluted tide), scrub, suck out the water. Maybe go again with plain water. You might need more/stronger detergent for the greasy hand parts. Dawn is fine.
It’s not the fabric’s fault if it’s dirty and hasn’t been cleaned!
I was singing the fabric’s praises, which is why it still looks good and hides wear fairly well. I just think the arms are beyond reclaiming, and yes, not the fabric’s fault. Sorry that didn’t come across. Room and Board recommended Folex for cleaning. It’s what we have.

I would avoid the Metro at all costs. The cushions -- back and seat -- are just terrible. We've done a good job of fluffing and turning/moving them and they started sagging almost immediately. We've had ours for several years and it is STILL leaking down feathers. The stain resistant fabric we paid extra for is the opposite of stain resistant - literally WATER left stains on it. The fabric also pilled terribly after just a couple months. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. I will never buy anything from them again.
Do you have a brand / store you would recommend?
Our 2nd sofa is from La-Z-Boy and it is very comfortable. When we replace this metro (which will be sometime in the next year), we will probably get the Radley sectional from Macy - you can choose whatever fabric you want and it doesn't change the price.
