I have absolutely deleted a post I was writing thinking that I can see myself saying the same thing in public and didn’t want to somehow out myself as a dcum reader. Why? I have no idea. But I like being part of a fight club.

Years and years ago there was a site called the old town patch or the del ray patch, I forget, but I posted on the political stories frequently. And I run pretty conservative. The mod threatened to 'dox' me, publish my IP, and inform my employer that I was posting during business hours. I sued him and won $11,000. I tried very hard to have him arrested for assault but APD would not.

The site has since vanished.

I actually say that I use DCUM. I am not ashamed of that, or of anything I write on this site.

But you are not alone, OP. For some very strange reason, multiple posters over the years have expressed the same fear.

Maybe you all need to work on your confidence?

I live in the DMV in an area full of DCUM types. Sometimes when I meet new acquaintances, particularly fellow parents, I feel self conscious if I say something I've shared on DCUM. For example, when my DC was deciding between colleges I felt like the specific schools and the factors they were considering could have outed me.

Anyone else? Yes, I'm probably just being paranoid. At the same time, I'm met parents that I'm sure are on DCUM - I almost said something once but I feel like it's an unwritten code not to.

I need to start changing details in my posts.
