I think they might prefer SAT from rich kids without AP scores because SAT is more difficult and more difficult to game with extra time accommodations. (And I’m absolutely not talking about kids who truly need the extra time)

No they don't. My East Coast 35 ACT kid did very well in admissions.

There used to be regional difference between SAT and ACT. East Coast and West Coast did SAT. The Midwest and South did the ACT. But that's been going away for a long time. Savvy kids submit the test scores they did better in. And there's a difference between ACT and SAT. Students usually do better in one or the other. And high performing students everywhere usually take practice tests in both, and figure out which they are more comfortable with. Generally, a 34 or a 1500 and above is good to go anywhere. And no university anywhere is penalizing students for submitting ACT scores.

More kids take the SAT (by a large margin) since it moved to digital. It is shorter, there is no science and it is online. This appeals to many kids. Schools have zero preference for one test over the other. I am shocked some CCO would say this.

People will seriously make up endless BS on DCUM.

I have 2 kids who got into multiple Ivies in recent years and both only took the ACT.
Our college counselor (top private) said there is absolutely no difference.
And I have spent ridiculous amounts of time researching college stuff in recent years and have NEVER read about an SAT preference.

The schools stress there is zero preference

I know they say they consider them equally, but do you think it’s true that colleges don’t favor the SAT over ACT or vice versa? Do the data or anecdotes from your school bear this out?
