Barbara and Linda are nice names too! Not every name needs to be "hip" but Sharon could be difficult as it seems more "Karen" than even Karen. Maybe she can go by Share/Cher? Cher is close to cherry without the popping.

Is this a troll from a 75 year old woman? Only my mom talks like this, down to the name Sharon and calling something “hip”.

If this is genuine: Cherry is a cute name and I went to school in the 90s with a girl whose legal name was Cherry and she turned out fine.

I would call her Cherry.

Sharon is a nice name, but my relationship with my kid is more important than calling my kid a specific name.

DD (14) is named Sharon, because DH and I felt that was a hip and beautiful name. However, she's now saying that it's a "middle-aged white woman name" (keep in mind that she is white) and demanding that we call her "Cherry". She's already got her friends to call her Cherry and plans to start high school introducing herself to classmates and teachers as Cherry. I'm not a fan. In addition to the inappropriate associations that cherries can have, Sharon is her name. It's a wonderful, lovely name, and now she's saying that she wants to be called a piece of fruit? I don't get it. WWYD?
