My kid is a rising senior and never had a locker. He just schleps his stuff from room to room. Because of the block schedule they don't need every book every day. The school is so big that odds are your locker would never be near where you need it to be.

My now sophomore didn’t wear a coat all year last year— she walks about a mile to school each way. I gave her a hard time if it was in the 20s, but she would just put on a hat and gloves and be fine. I guess it’s not different from how I run in a sweatshirt and long sleeves in January.

He has a lightweight puffer coat that he wears on the coldest days.

You rent it for the year. Minimal cost. It is not a big deal.


I assumed rent was like a mistake. You actually have to pay for a locker?

I guess they don’t have any books so not much to carry anyways.

It’s not just W-L, high school kids in general no longer use lockers at all.

Athletic lockers and instrument lockers are still used for practical reasons.

No one really uses lockers. There’s a bag drop room for athletic equipment.

My rising freshman (who will be attending Washington Liberty) just heard a rumor that freshman don’t get lockers. Can someone confirm or deny this rumor? And regardless - are students they be permitted to carry their backpacks to class (in middle school they were not allowed to)?
