For the above posters saying NO WAY NOT MY GEN Z kid! hundreds of gen x'ers at a beach caused a ton of trouble drinking and staying out to the late hours.

No, an article just came out that says they are drinking less than any other generation.

Makes sense because I know all of my Gen Z kids are very health-focused. They eat well, go to the gym, and are all about healthy activities. They are way healthier than I (I declare as I eat a Little Debbie strawberry swiss cake roll as a dessert to my Lunchable lunch).

They are 23, 21 twins, and 19. Obviously the youngest can't drink, but the oldest drinks once a year, on her birthday. The twins are at home now for the summer and even though we have a stocked fridge and an in-home bar, neither have drank any alcohol at home. My one son had a beer the last time we went to a Nats game and I think the other may have had a White Claw at my sister's house last weekend for the 4th.

It's interesting to me because they don't even seem to go clubbing anymore in college! Like, not just them, but lots of young people. I have some older GenZ coworkers who call a wild night out staying out of the house until after 9pm. My nights didn't even start until 9 or 10 pm when I was in my 20s!

No they rarely drink. Boomers are the big cocktail drinkers. GenX likes beer and wine. Millennials like wine and craft cocktails. GenZ likes flavored fizzy water.

I was at a conference last year and they had a happy hour with free drinks. It was the Gen X and older people who were kicking them back. The GenZ people were mostly drinking soft drinks. Very surprising to me.

They're doing less of everything. Sex, drinking, drugs, anything risk related. Not sure if it's strictly healthy

Don't think so. They are abstaining from everything. Any kind of smoking is not popular or cool.

Young people have been getting drunk forever. Seeing some drunk young people isn't remotely new.

How big was their sample size? OP had an n=5, which has pretty significant predictive power when it comes to psychological study.

My anecdotal observation of my children and my nieces and nephew and all their friends is that they drink much less if at all. They try a few things, but they end up not liking much of it.

The alphabet generations are a lost cause. Humanity is doomed when the boomers all retire.

Wondering. Saw a group of young girls (probably late teens or early 20's) drunk at 11pm today in a strip mall and one of the girls fell down to the pavement with her booty shorts up and eyes closed. The group of girlfriends didn't help her up and appeared drunk too. Some boys then stopped by who appeared sober and left with the drunk girl. Gen x not doing good parenting?
