The memoir In Love by Amy Bloom deals with this. Her husband was in early stages of dementia and chose Switzerland. It is not an easy process to get approved but he was able to end his life the way he wanted to.

In California if you have a terminal illness you can get pills to do it. I don't know if you have to be at a certain point in your illness, but my SIL's mom did this in 2021.

She had a number of health issues - it was always hard to tell which were legit … thinks like chronic Lyme…. But she was deeply unhappy and genuinely physically troubled. Her mother brought her to Switzerland and she did it. She was maybe 32.

She was so unhappy and physically in pain but it was very sad.

WtF! Not what I expected to read.

TBH I will not be riding out the last 5-10 years of my life in some sort of mental or physical decline that bankrupts me and destroys my relationships, so I will be doing this if it feels necessary.

Me too.

Me three.

Me four. Even if they make it legal here, dying in Switzerland seems like a peaceful way to go.

You know the one. Where they hook you up to a drip and let you pass away on your own? If so how was the person’s experience (obviously if it went well we know how it ended)?
