For that suit specifically, it's referring to the U-shaped wire gathering the fabric in the crevice between her breasts. Details specify "sewn-in soft cup bra," which is not a kind of theirs that I have tried.

If you are worried about things staying up, I would avoid a bandeau top. I have worn tons of tankini tops from them (no bandeaus, although for the opposite reason--they slide down me because there's nothing to prevent them doing that and I end up having to tug at my suit, which is uncomfortable and which I also don't like as a look) and they all have underwires.

I’m coming from wearing underwire swimsuits for several years. I can also get amazing support from Miraclesuit (one of mine has underwire, one doesn’t, both are doing great).

I can’t wear anything* without an underwire. [*the exception stated above is fine because it’s so tight, molded, so super tight around the boobs. So, it stands to reason I can wear non-underwire, but it has to be extremely supportive in another way]
