I imagine that's probably more for the sandwich side of things and not the butcher side.

I don't know what the Dutch market is but is it one of those places that sells prepared food to go? I'm trying to understand the logic because if a supermarket introduced tipping you'd better believe I'd be voting with my feet and never returning. But you do have the option to select no. I always select no for bakeries and coffee shops and takeaway places.


They are Dutch Amish from Pennsylvania and they sell different specialty foods and groceries.

They do this at the organic butcher too. I think it's for the butchers? I'm not tipping $40 on a $200 piece of meat.

These grocery stores also paying their staff far below the minimum wage?

I was at the Dutch market buying steak to grill for tonight and when I was paying using my card it gave me only option of 15%, 20%, 25% tip.
Expensive food cost is not enough now I have to tip teenagers who work there.
