Job loss due to automation has been predicted since the start of the industrial revolution. We haven't seen mass unemployment yet. I'll believe it when I see it. Jobs will change, but there will be jobs.

How do you control the unemployed? They don't have anything to lose.
You make them addicted to your technology. Phones, social media/internet and now AI chatbots that will be your friend or therapist (for a fee of course).
