Capitol One has terrible service. Do not recommend. Really considering overcoming inertia and moving everything since they keep screwing things up with my business accounts. The robots are in charge and the in person people do not seem
Empowered to fix anything, yet the automated options do not work well.

Wells Fargo stay away from bank of America. Never, ever use them.

I was able to get a medallion stamp at Chase so that was nice.

Would you consider a credit union (not as evil as the big banks)?

Sandy Spring no longer exists

Yup acquired and now Atlantic United. Sandy Spring name will probably live for another year or two.

Ugh sorry Atlantic Union Bank.

Have had a TD account for 10 years, been in a branch a few times, always excellent experience. They are open on weekends also. Their Beyond account has a lot of really nice free perks like no fees for ATM withdrawals at other banks, free cashiers checks, 1 free outgoing wire per month, all with no fee if you keep $2500+ in the account. Really nice set of benefits that usually you need $10-15k for at other banks.

If you have a branch nearby and don't need a branch outside the east coast, I'd go with them.

Chase. Wells Fargo is an absolute no, never, under no circumstances.

Maybe it's a weird complaint but I opened an account at M&T when I moved here and I hated going in - every single person at the branch would come running at you like "HI! How are you! Thank you for coming in!!!" and it was so weird and unnecessary it gave me anxiety. I remember once 6 people greeted me before I got to the teller, and then once I was at the counter another teller came out from behind to talk to me while I was filling out the slip. Like WTF people, leave me alone! I just want to run a simple errand here, not star in a musical.

That’s a good consideration. Already have Wells Fargo and Chase. This needs to be different because the cards are getting confusing (I’m a trustee for multiple people).

Why not Bank of America or chase? They’re nationwide. It’s a royal pain to rely on sandy spring if you have to move.

I need a new bank for a small checking account (under $10k), with an occasional need to visit branches. I have banks like Capital One, PNC, Sandy Spring near me. Would prefer a free checking account.

Already have online and credit union accounts, but really need some brick and mortar locations.
