+1 also to the "lower ivy" people, some kids also have no interest in HYP. Shocking I know, people have different preferences.

My favorite Ivy is Dartmouth by a long mile. Don’t care where it’s “ranked” amongst the Ivies.

That is such a dumb term. Ivies and similar elite privates are not that different from each other as far as the students they take

All of these posts are beyond stupid. Kids make choices to attend any number of selective colleges over other selective colleges every year - of course they do! Main reasons are money (the biggest), location, legacy, major - and legions more. Rankings are not remotely the most important factor for most people.

I don't get why people use "Ivy" to mean highly selective college in a general sense on this board. Is anyone really going to Dartmouth, Cornell or Brown over MIT or Stanford? No. "Ivy" refers to the athletic conference. Not sure why it keeps being used in this weird way.
