I read someone say once in an article about how (maybe Bob Dylan?) had a concert once and refused to play his biggest songs, that the best touring artists understand where their bread is buttered. For example, Taylor Swift has said she knows she will play Love Story, as fans know it, at every show til she dies. It doesn’t matter if it bores her to tears or she’s moved past it. Thats what fans want to hear when they pay XYZ to see your show. Counting Crows might be bored of their songs but damn, they are not important enough to be doing doo wop versions of Rain King to entertain themselves at the shows people still bother to attend.

I thought it was not a good show. They changed almost every hit so that you couldn't sing along well to it-- syncopated it, slowed it down, etc. For the Mr. Jones chorus he just held the mike out to the audience every single chorus and didn't sing. I thought there were too many new songs/deep cuts in a row several times during the night as compared to hits. And I thought it was bizarre, the first time he talked after 4 or 5 songs just to say he always thought about what he wanted to say at this point and never came up with anything, and then just said over and over again, I don't know what to say. I've been to over a hundred concerts, though it's the first time I've seen them, and for me it ranked in the lowest 20%. But I will say the last 3 songs in the regular set redeemed it somewhat for me-- I loved his cover of the Taylor Swift song The One. I loved how he morphed that into Long December and he did that song very well. And I loved how he did Rain King, folding Oh Susanna into it without slowing it down or changing it too much.

I went! It was great. Good, mixed set list, with hits (incl early on - they played Mr. Jones 3rd) plus some of their new tracks. Nice connection with the audience. Audio at the venue was good. It was probably the best evening of the summer weather-wise so that was lucky.

I remember when The Rolling Stones seemed like they were really old for rock stars.... that was decades ago.

More power to them if they can keep rock and alternative rock alive. Anything is better than this modern pop junk.

We saw them last night. They put on a good show and I especially enjoyed the T Swift cover.

They were terrible when I saw them in the 90s at their peak, so I can’t imagine they are better now that they are old.

I went last summer- I was disappointed. He seemed high and old. It was still fun because it was all the old fun music but I’ve been to a lot of 90s music shows in the last couple of years and this one did not age well.
