Hate it. I've contacted Faust and my congressman (Bayer) to get this stopped.

Would this help or hinder development on top of the golf course?

Would it include Reston town center? All the areas of the PUD? All the areas not in the PUD but part of Reston Association?

I heard about this bill, has the support of the fairfax delegation.

It won’t work. Too many poor parasites live in Reston.

And why is it a good idea? I’ve lived in 20 years and see no practical reason why this area should incorporate as a town.

Reston could get it's own public works and police department. There's two reasons.

In other words, Reston would have to shell out millions of dollars to establish and sustain its own pubic works and police departments (all on the backs of "town" taxpayers) that would effectively offer the same levels of service already offered by the county.

No thanks.

Actually, no. Net costs likely the same but more local control -- and those pesky Reston unique fees would become tax-deductible. So likely a net savings.

FYI Towns receive state funding for things like roads and such. And county does not pay for roads either. In Virginia, VDOT handles roads in counties. Towns get control over the roads -- while the state continues to pay for them. Counties do not have control over their own roads.

Water and sewer still would be Fairfax Water Authority which actually is independent from the county - and it also serves parts of PW and L counties.

Herndon or Vienna town police dept is tiny - basically it only handles traffic enforcement. County police still handles any major crimes.

Zoning.

And the non-deductible Reston fees become deductible town taxes.

Also it is the first move towards being its own city, which would give it separate schools eventually.

Gee, why not pay one set of local taxes when you can pay two?

There is a law in the VA General Assembly to incorporate Reston as a town. Thoughts?
