Your dress sounds perfect. I like the description of pants not being your strong suit! LOL.

It means someone came up with another marketing term to sell more clothes.

Basically it means designer expensive non-formal. Spending extra money for the designer label. The opposite of "smart", just like most Orwellian propaganda.

Omg, calm down. It just means not jeans or leggings.

Tops: Chic blouses, structured knits, or a dressy tee paired with a skirt or pants.
Bottoms: Tailored trousers, dark-wash jeans, or a well-cut skirt.
Dresses: Smart midi dresses, wrap dresses, or stylish pencil dresses.
Shoes: Loafers, ballet flats, block heels, or clean sneakers.
Layers: A blazer or cardigan can add polish.
Key elements of smart casual:
Clean and well-fitting: Clothing should be neat, without rips or excessive wear.
Polished and put-together: Even casual pieces should look intentional and well-chosen.
Appropriate for the occasion: Consider the specific event and adjust your outfit accordingly.
Comfortable and confident: The goal is to feel good in what you're wearing while looking sharp.

I think your dress sounds perfect.

Smart casual to me just means no athleisure/shorts/tshirts.

Agree what you describe will be great. Can you share a link to the dupe?!

I think the Somerset dress will work as smart casual as long as shoes are not too dressy.

Smart casual seems an odd choice of wording for a summertime weekend non-work event. I am sure the host was trying to be helpful, but so often dress code wording backfires! On the bright side, as a result, all other guests will be equally uncertain as to what smart casual means, and there will be a range of clothing choices

I think your dress suggestion is a good one, OP.

Business Casual- what you wear to work normally.

That dress looks perfect in my opinion.

For me that might be linen. Probably linen pants and a nice top. Open toed shoes with a pedicure. Jewelry

I have a weekend event with a dress code of, 'smart casual.' What does that mean to you?
Would the Anthropologie Somerset dress in navy with some nice jewelry work? Or would that be too dressy?
(Confession: I actually got an Anthro Somerset dupe, but I like it better!)
I would wear pants and a nice top but pants are just not my strong suit right now.
Thanks for any ideas, links, suggestions. My closet feels like a disaster right now!
