We have a 100% cotton quilt (cotton batting inside) for our bed and our kids' beds. Make sure the batting of whatever you buy is not polyester, the synthetic material is what makes it hot.

+1 and so much stuff made for kids is poly-based so you have to look carefully at the specs.

Ibena in Germany makes blankets of 58% Cotton / 35% Acrylic / 7% Polyester. I got mine from Lands End which doesn't carry them anymore, but Ibena also sells directly. I use mine all year round. Very easy to wash and dry, unlike comforters. I wash them on hot and they don't smell.

Get a nice Indian cotton quilt. I have ones from Anokhi but there are plenty of other options too.

I use a flat flannel sheet as a summer blanket. It is thin but gives a touch of weight.

DD loves to sleep with a blanket or comforter no matter how hot it is. Anyone have suggestions on a blanket or comforter that won’t be too hot during the summer months?
