This is crazy. You are going to have them switch off during the school week, 20 minutes in one direction? and have to remember to drag all their stuff between different houses all the time?

So tell us what's the ideal schedule for kids that won't involve them dragging their stuff? I am not OP, but I am curious.

Maybe you and your ex should consider what is the BEST living situation for your teen and tween children instead of being selfish and thinking about what is convenient for you.

Ask if your DW can switch her schedule to Thursday and Friday. At least at our district kids hardly have any tests on Fridays. I would be better if the non custodial parent have them towards the end of the week. And could also make for a long stretch for them Thursday to Sunday

They are not staying in the same house. When they are with their mom they stay at her place. We will be 15/20 minutes drive from one another.

We will also be flexible if say they have a busy week of exams they can just with me that whole week.

I wish my parents had a similar schedule. Instead they counted the exact number of days each one had us..and any variation they ran to their mediator. 50/50 is bad for divorced kids. Don't do that to them. Looks OP has a 60/40.

The parent who has them on Saturday will do the sports. How often do kids have sleepover? It's not every week. This is the problem with you guys. The kids have already had their lives altered and you guys are already thinking which parent is going to be worse off.

I think this is a great schedule. And it's rare for men to be primary parent. So they seem to have found a good compromise.

It's actually a very good schedule. However the 50/50 maniacs on this forum will start screaming it's not fair this that. For the kids it's a good schedule.

ex DW will have the kids every Monday and Tuesday and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

I will have the kids Wednesday to Sunday one week and Wednesday to Friday the next.

And during the week exDW will also drive them and pick them up from sports practice some of the days ( we will split them)

I am the designated primary parent. This work for us because the kids are staying in the school district with me and ex DW will be living in another district.

Our kids are 15 and 12.

Anyways used a similar schedule? DW works from home on Mondays and Tuesdays so that's how we came up with the schedule. We just don't want the kids traveling back and forth.
