I'd say W&M is more liberal, it's like 6 or 7 to 1 liberal to conservative students. There's no Jefferson Council equivalent at W&M.

Christopher Newport should be in the mix, if you are looking for a more conservative public.

VT is probably a bit more conservative than UVA or W&M., but that is mainly vibes talking..

There's some new dynamics now, as young people seem to be trending significantly more conservative than they used to be. Trump won 56% of young men and 40% of young women.

Firsr, what do you mean by "conservative"? Regular old-fashioned rich guy conservative, or Trumper?

This may be a you problem. UVA is way more moderate compared to most comparable publics like Michigan and Berkeley. 18-22 year olds are going to lean liberal. Anecdotally, the president of the Young Republicans club at DD’s school went to W&M but I think VT is the most apolitical of the three options.

Most college students, anywhere, are not "middle of the road/moderate." Never have been, probably never will be.

DH's niece, who leans quite conservative, graduated from Radford. But it was like 8 years ago.

Unironically Radford and Longwood. Niche has a section on colleges on where students lean politically and I’m sure Radford and Longwood both lean conservatively. I know many students who’ve loved their time at Radford.

What do you mean by “welcoming?” Define that.

I’m not trying to start an argument and am being as objective as possible: your kid will be a minority at every college except Liberty. Sure, they will meet some conservative students and could join a political club. Maybe a few professors are conservative. However, the dominant culture on every campus except Liberty is liberal.

Particularly curious about UVA, W&M, VT.
