Agree. And walking along the 10 mile river loop (or shorter if you do smaller subloops) is amazing. You can combine that with breakfast tacos or fish or vegetarian tacos at the South Congress location of Taco Joint.

You should also go to the Continental Club for a show.

You would be surprised how good a lot of the vegetable sides and desserts are at BBQ places.

I would go to the outdoor pools per PP and the LBJ library even if it’s just for the architecture.

Years ago I was told to go to the Oasis for a drink / sunset (but not for the food). It was a beautiful spot.

Have a drink on the hotel patio next to the Congress Ave. bridge and watch the bats fly out. It’s pretty cool.

I also liked walking around the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

The Fairmont is a great place to stay and has a very nice rooftop pool.

Everybody talks about Austin like it is this fantastic nirvana. It is not a very big city and not that exciting if you are coming from a place where there is stuff to do. Institute of Texan Cultures is an interesting museum. Though I think it is actually in San Antonio.

If you’re not up for Franklins BBQ, then I got nothing.

I will be in Austin for about 36 hours this week. I am pescatarian (so BBQ is not my thing). I will have a car. Are there any things I MUST see/do/eat while I’m there? I was there once many years ago and went into the Whole Foods mothership, but other than that I don’t remember it and I’m told it’s changed a ton.

Thanks!
