If like me your starting bmi is 36 and you have obesity-related health problems, it is worth it.

I have been on Wegovy for over a year and the side effect of constipation has not gone away for me. And a couple of times it has been bad enough that I got impacted.

I've managed to learn to stay on top of it. I eat 3 to 5 prunes a day, and have otc stool softeners and prune juice ready to go. My doctor emphasized the prune thing, and she was right, it's been far better for me than any fiber supplements that you can buy at the drug store. The need to drink enough water cannot be overstated -- and if you are constipated drinking a lot of water actually can help even if you already have a problem with a very dry stool; as my doctor explained to me, water is going in and out of the colon at all times. So water can help and water needs to accompany any fiber supplements you use.

When it gets bad, magnesium citrate. When it gets really bad, like I-might-need-a-healthcare-professional-but-OMG-humilating bad, try a Fleet enema. I had to do that once and it was awful, but beat going to urgent care.

But if you stay on top of it with your fiber and water intake, and take steps as needed quickly if you start to get constipated anyway, hopefully you can avoid it getting to the Fleet point.

At least you're thin now.

I quit taking it after a week because of the constipation. It was very severe and it really scared me.

I also had a constant feeling of mild nausea, even in my dreams. This is something that used to happen only if I was sick at my stomach and going to vomit.

It wasn't worth it to me. Sorry, OP. I had to just accept that I'm always going to want to be 15 or 20 pounds lighter. I have friends who are taking it without the same side effects.

Aim to get more than the daily requirement of fiber and make sure you only count fiber from non-processed foods. That is the healthiest way, but you will need to work your way up. Until then, are you eating prunes? Perhaps take magnesium and/or a stool softener? Your goal over time should be to just naturally get everything you need from real foods.

Yes, that’s how it works. It slows down your digestive system.

I was a 2-3x a day pooper, now I'm 1-2x a day. I've never missed a day in 3 months of being on a GLP1.

OP, how has your diet changed? Are you eating lots (a MINIMUM of 5 servings) of fruits and vegetables every day? Drinking water?

Are you eating too much protein (meat and dairy)?

My digestive habits haven't changed at all. No diarrhea, no constipation - just slightly less often. But I've always eaten an abundance of fruits and vegetables (more like 6-10 servings/day).

I thought most people got diarrhea with that.

How do you do that?! Just before you go?

Mag07 daily. Life changing for someone with chronic constipation.

It does not go away. You really need to be as deliberate about consuming fiber as you are about consuming protein. Use Metamucil powder if you can't get enough from food. I do an overnight stool softener once a week as well.

I went on ozempic about 2 months ago and constipation is a side effect. I used to be very “regular” and I’m only once a week! Has anyone else experienced this side effect and does it go away eventually?
