A day trip to Paris from London makes no sense; it's too far. Close enough that it is possible, yes, but far enough that it doesn't make sense. Do a couple of days in Paris, or just don't go and do a separate trip there later.

I did when my friend came to visit me in London. We did a pre planned tour once we got to Paris since my friend had never been. Long day but it was fun.

Thank you for saying this, it is so true.

I’ve done it for work and to attend a family memorial service. For a pleasure trip, I wouldn’t do it for less than 3 days.

Same. Also with DC and NYC regularly for work. It sucks. I would never choose to do this for pleasure, a forced march through a city for 6ish hours with at least as much spent on just getting there and back is not how I like to vacation.

This. A weekend or 2 days, going Friday night or Saturday morning and coming back Sunday evening is very doable though and I’ve done it a few times.

Doable with one night. I wouldn’t go for shorter. Remember there’s a time change and border checks.

I would not do it again. We ended up with like 6 hours in Paris. They tell you to get to train station like 90 minutes early post brexit.

If I did it again I would just do at the end of the trip and fly out of Paris, staying there for 1-3 days or something like that.

London is fantastic, don’t sell it short. I’d sooner do a short side trip to Paris from London or skip Paris altogether.

No, but we did a weekend. Like others said, it seemed like a lot of time/expense for a short period, but it was fun to do a quick trip over to Paris (about 48 hours) while spending majority of time in London. I also just love traveling by train— it’s the best method. But it can be pricey and immigration stuff is now pretty slow. I’d do it again but not for just a day trip.

For those wondering, post-Brexit, the passport checks to board the train in both directions are more time-consuming, and they scan bags like at an airport. So yes you do have to get there (in both directions) probably an hour beforehand to allow time. The trains are also quite expensive unless booked way in advance- even then it's around $120-150 roundtrip. So if a family of 4 it becomes very expensive for a day.

If you want to see both cities, definitely better to just fly to one city and fly home from the other

Would you do it again?
