No, I dislike NY. But if it was about money, I would have invested some of my salary long ago and now just bought low, sold high to make the $200k several times a year, or dividends for you.

I know a couple people in the DC area who have biggish NYC-based jobs and have been able to negotiate being there 2-3 days a week (and on company dime).

+1, especially with the decline of NYC

Taxes are insane too.

Those ages are hard for a move but personally really enjoy the NJ suburbs so if the kids were open to it I'd definitely move.

Same. I wouldn’t sell my house because I’d only have a few more years before retirement. But I got for the fabulous opportunity.

You’d have to move to Brooklyn or Connecticut or New Jersey. You know.

I would, because I love NYC and 460k would be enough money. If you don’t want to live in NYC or if it would negatively impact your kids/they weren’t also enthusiastic about going, I wouldn’t do it, at least not just for the money. It’s a hard place to live and middle and high school are harder transition times. If it goes wrong, it could have major implications for your kids at an important time (gearing up for college).

We (NYC) have senior people commuting from Boston, Philly, PA in this salary range. Can you negotiate for hybrid work?

I would take your kids' feelings and thoughts into account. They should not be determinative - you are the parents - but that's the main factor here.

Nah not for the money. Only if the idea of living in that area appealed to me still, and my family.

I get paid 260k here salary.

Similar job but different company offering me 460k salary but I would have to move to nyc

Bonuses are 100k-200k. 100k here. 200k possibly nyc but bonuses are never guaranteed.

Should I consider moving there? Middle and high school age kids here.
