Neither the other government jobs or private sector have access to your health coverage. And you cannot lie when asked anyway. This is so dumb.

Get your kid treated.

This is a backwards way of thinking. If your DS is untreated, then he shouldn't be working those jobs that would disqualify him for taking medication.

I think the military requires you to be medication free for two years- at least with ADHD meds.

Don’t lie. Those rules are there for a reason. Get the help you need now, with insurance. That’s the important thing. And, don’t lie.

It depends on one's career. My understanding is for the mitary, and airline pilots, you cannot be on meds and it would disqualify you. But my understanding does not equal facts. Maybe someone else with more actual knowledge can pipe in

DS is a college student and has diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. He has been seeing a psychologist who does not accept insurance. So, no insurance has been involved so far. The psychologist recommended DS to see a psychiatrist to get medication. My understanding is if you use insurance to see a psychiatrist, there will be a record.

Will this record affect DS' future career (or anything else)? If so, in what way?

Or should we stay with self-pay so that no record with insurance? TIA.
