I hate to tell you this, but I actually cut my hair short because of this. My hair was falling out so much the first couple of months on Wegovy that it was getting really tangled. To the extent that I could barely brush it. Hair would fall out, but not totally fall to the floor and would get all tangled in the rest of my hair. My brush would fill up. Hair was all over my floor. When I wore black you could see that I was covered in hair (my hair is blonde).

That was about a year ago now, and I still lose a bit more hair than I used to before Wegovy, but nowhere near as much as in my early days on it. My hair has grown back a lot and it no longer falls out enough to tangle, or to fill up my brush immediately.

Oral minoxidil. I’ve been taking it consistently for 3 months and have had a lot of growth.

Has anyone successfully regrown their hair on the meds or had to go off them to get their hair back? Any tips greatly appreciated.

The 2 things aren't connected. Go treat the hair loss separately. Be thankful that you are finally thin.

How do You know this?

I lost 70 and lost a lot of hair too. Thyroid is fine so derm started me on oral minoxidil. I’ve only been on it for less than 2 months so haven’t noticed any change yet.

A lot of people will say it’s rapid weight loss. But there are many of us who hasn’t experienced rapid weight loss, ate a healthy diet and lost a lot of hair.

I lost maybe 8-10 pounds over 14-16 weeks and lost a lot of hair. Every time I’d take a shot I’d have terrible shedding the following days. I’m now 2.5 weeks out from my last shot and it has slowed down.

Whereas I lost 60 pounds post childbirth and didn’t experience shedding like this. Now that was rapid weight loss. I’ve also lost 10 pounds before and not had shedding like this.

The FDA is doing a study on the connection and many doctors will share they are hearing about this side effect.

Don’t be gaslit that you need more protein or a vitamin. For some people, it is TE or another issue, but for many it’s simply the shot.

Go read on Reddit about this. In your case could be rapid weight loss. For me, it was the actual medication.

At least you're thin now.

Your body is stressed from the weight loss. Check your thyroid and iron levels, but it should start to grow back when you stop losing weight. A multivitamin might be a good idea, along with more protein.

You need to have adequate protein in your diet. Also check your ferritin levels. Poor nutrition can cause hair loss.

Get your thyroid levels checked and go to the dermatologist and figure out what it is. I had this happen when I was hyperthyroid, I went on medication for that and the dermatologist fixed the bald spots with cortisone shots to my scalp.
