Our UMC white DD was a finalist. She did not proceed because she did not get matched to her top choices. She got into her top choice anyways applying RD.
The finalists we saw during the online meeting where a wide spread from all walks of life and schools.

Don't get discouraged. They are looking mainly for leadership experience/skills in combination with academics.
Household income does not come into play. Not from our experience. It is worth a shot.

At our charter school all kinds of kids get nominated and chosen for these scholarships.

Posses are SES-mixed by design. The competition will be stiffer for an UMC+ white kid, of course, but it's not impossible. (And Wisconsin is amazing even if you have to pay full freight for it.)

I thought posse was like Questbridge -- donut hole familiies probably are too rich -- but maybe not.

my kid is UMC white kid. we're donut hole so free tuition would be amazing, but I hear this process is time consuming during a busy time. what are the odds they're going to pick my kid. I assume they want URM kids to diversify their partner colleges? UWM is on my kids list so Posse would be ideal.
