I’m sorry, OP. Been there, done that. It’s a terrible feeling.

My adult daughter was hysterical when she hit a rabbit.

These things happen. You didn’t mean it.

I just say in my head to the animal, I’m so sorry.

How about turtles (2) trying to cross ICC?? Luckily I didn’t kill them but it was close.

What about the chicken that became your sandwich? Did it live any better?

It was probably a goldfinch

Is Culver's good? I've never had one but I noticed one when visiting a friend down in Southern VA.

Seriously, when I lived in Florida I ran over a frog once. It's not something that I have continued to feel bad about but at the time I did. I remember the squishing sound that I heard when I drove over it.

My dad ran over a pigeon one day in Paris. He felt awful. He's lived there for close to 50 years, and that was the only time.

I hope you at least enjoyed your sandwich.

Nature makes enough, OP.

It also might've just been stunned. Don't stress too much about it. It's sad, but it happens. Maybe set out some birdseed this winter to balance it out, if you're upset.

I’m so sorry. One time, as I was driving, a squirrel darted out into the street and ran directly in front of my back tire. I felt awful, but there wasn’t any way I could have avoided it.

I was bored and decided to go get a sandwich from Culver’s (in WI on vacation). Some type of chickadee or song bird saw something on the pavement right in front of my car and landed in front of me. There was no time to react and I ran it over. I could see it was dead in the rear view mirror. I feel like crap witnessing the last seconds of this birds life where it was curiously checking something out on the pavement. All because I felt like getting a sandwich. Oh well I guess it died quickly, hopefully.
