There have been concerns with sportsmanship from Chesterbrook throughout the years. Some have been dismissed as being intense and just part of competition, while others have clearly crossed the line. The reps and parents have tried to fix the issues when they came up. Is it an instance of a handful of problem kids and parents or is it part of the culture? One or two instances can be dismissed, but this is a trend every year.
Even the responses on this forum are an indication of the level of sportsmanship. How many posts did you read that claimed to be from an Overlee, Tuckahoe, DR, or OKM parent that were clearly from a CB swimmer, spouting nonsense, deflecting from any responsibility, and undermining the concept of sportsmanship as just a part of competition. Every team has the potential for stupid mistakes (e.g., 15-18 boys), but how can CB solve this?
It can't be just looking to the NVSL as some sort of policing body every time a kid steps out of line and it can't be grow up and get used to it.
Is this actually the case? Have the coaches tried as well? I don't understand how it keeps happening if the adults in charge are holding kids, and each other, accountable for their behavior.
