Also $170 is basically nothing.

Just buy the vitamix canister or be cheap and get a ninja. How hard is this to decide?

To clarfiy, the Vitamix customer service people tell me I sohuld never buy generic, and that I should get a new canister. It's 170 dollars which seems like a lot. They say that theres something wrong with either the engine (no longer under warranty) or the gaskets, if I rememeber, in the pitcher itself.

I broke the Vitamix container and bought a new one - generic one. Now it's making smoke come up from the container. The customer service people tell me a new one is around $170 US. Is that really my only good option?
