If I could have any plants I would probably want a whole bunch of native grasses. They are hard to grow from seed and they grow slowly so established plants would be a real luxury. But if you offered many gardeners a dozen grasses they might not be so happy. It’s pretty personal!

You are a kind friend. I am sure she will appreciate whatever you send.

This. Shipping plants is expensive and risky, and your choice may not be what she wants. I'm interested in certain specific varieties only, for my garden, OP. If she's picky like me, she's going to want to choose herself. Actually, I rarely go to my local nurseries anymore, I use specialist nurseries online. But with a gift certificate to a local thing, she can always pick up pots and utensils and useful stuff.

Silly post . This one of David Austin’s fabled “wedding roses” not available for retail to the general public as a rose bush.

A lemon tree. Down there they could keep it outside most of the year.

Permanent relocation?

Ask them if they'd like to pick out an older fruit tree (bigger root ball)/taller trunk to get shipped in from a tree nursery?

Maybe a heritage seed basket if they are good at growing vegetables?

Good friend who is great with plants and flowers just (reluctantly) relocated to Tennessee for spouse’s big job. What’s a great plant to send that’s a bit of a splurge?
