Its because of discrimination and the abundance of medicore white guys that making the process fair was needed. But I guess MAGA wants to return to the days when people like JD Vance and Clarence Thomas would never be accepted to elite universities.

Don't think for a second that this is just about UVA. It’s a test case on how partisan politics can reshape higher education nationally—through legal threats, funding control, and administrative intimidation.

It's about:

-federal overreach
-weaponization of a federal agency
-a warning shot to other universities, especially public ones, and other university presidents
-a "reward" for the base who has been encouraged to hate educated "elites"

*Key figures in the DOJ’s push were UVA alumni serving as DOJ officials—Deputy Assistant Attorney General Gregory W. Brown and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon—who reportedly sent letters to the university demanding full compliance and documentation of DEI dismantling.

*Conservative legal group America First Legal, founded by Stephen Miller America in 2021, also mobilized against Ryan and amplified demands to remove him.
