That only works if you're only getting a cut. Color services need to be shampooed out. There may also be a toner so more time at the sink.

If I need to marinate I tell them to sit me up. They clip up my hair and I wait the 10 minutes for the toner to set or deep conditioning to sink in while sitting up.

I get my hair cut every other month and the salon recently changed shampoo sinks. The new one are so uncomfortable that after a few minutes my neck begins to hurt after a few minutes. To make things worse my hairdresser is often running late and seems to have a deep conditioning applied to buy time, which leaves me sitting backwards even longer. Last time I just washed my hair myself and bailed on it entirely. Which is fine. But it seems like a design flaw- anyone else encounter this?

Do you mean you washed your hair in the salon sink by yourself? Explain!

No, I washed my hair at home! I realized I also hate the 10 minutes of various hair treatments so it’s a win win!

This always happens to me and the last time I was there, the lady doing shampoos asked if I wanted this wedge device while I waited. I couldn't see what it was, but it made ALL the difference - and she kept it there when she came back to do the shampoo. I was thinking, why didn't they offer these before??

Yes, this has definitely been a problem at several salons I've been to over the years. It ruins what can otherwise be the highlight of the visit.

Yes. I do not get my hair washed at the salon. I wash it at home right before my appointment.

Yep, it sometimes triggers a migraine for me. Definitely ask for an extra towel if you have to sit there for awhile

Yes. A towel can help. So can changing the height and slope of the chair.

They do have those available, a former stylist with an in home salon had one and it was wonderful. Seems like most salons don't want to pay extra for them.

Yes I have, to the point that my neck hurts the next day! The only thing that helps is to have my stylist fold and wedge a small towel between my neck and the rim of the sink, which is a little more tricky than it sounds like it would be because of the water flowing, the rinsing etc. It’s not a perfect solution, the towel might get a little soggy but it makes the experience at the sink much more comfortable. And no neck pain the next day.

I understand this is a first world problem but want to see if I’m alone in this.
